Here is some information I collected about local movers. I picked
Dorrs and was happy with their work.

---------------------------------------
We used Dorrs on two occasions within the last two years. We found them
easier to deal with than South Hill Movers, the other company that Bovik
had recommended.

Our first move was fast and the packing was great. The second move was
slower and the packing was not as good. We had the same packer as the
first move, but he had an assistant that did things like put a plant in
a box and call it full. Still, nothing was broken and we had no
hassles. It just cost more money. All in all, I would recommend them.

-------------------
We just had a good (efficient, economical) experience moving our
household from Squirrel Hill to Shadyside with Dorr's Moving and
Storage.
-------------------
When I bought my house I used South HIlls Movers (although I moved from Regent
Square to the east suburbs) and I found them to be incredibly good. They were
very fast -- they just never stopped working -- and they didn't harm anything.
I know you wanted recent evaluations and I moved 5 years ago, but I have no
reason to believe that anything has changed with them. BTW, I called them
because they are one of the companies that the university uses. They did not
give me a special rate as a CMU employee, but they did not charge me extra for
moving an upright piano and they squeezed me into an end-of-month schedule (I
closed on October 29 and didn't want to schedule a moving date until after the
closing).

You might check with Purchasing to see who else they have been using and then
call and couple of places and identify yourself as a CMU employee and see if it
helps.

Mike:
I highly recommned Gardner Moving. They're in the yellow pages.
