We've been most pleased with Sullivan Plumbing. They always showed up
when they promised, do good work, and seem reasonably priced. They
were recommended to us by other CMU people.

Good luck!

B.,

I've used these people for years.
If you call them, please tell them I recommended them.

In addition to being business-like (show up, call, etc.),
they are so clean. I've had other plumbers in the past
who left a mess that literally took days to clean up,
and/or damage due to their carelessness.

Also, as you know I have an old house (circa 1906).
These guys are always willing to work with me;
for example, they'll take something back to the shop
and fabricate a piece to fit.
Others would say, "Oh, rip the tile off the wall,
rip out that old plumbing, and put in a whole, new" ...
just because a metal piece holding a ceramic faucet came off
or something like that. That may not be important to you
but it has been to me.

General plumbing:
Buerkle Plumbing, 351 Penn Ave. 683-0140

I use different plumbers for different things
but fortunately!!!! not often:

Furnaces:
Arch M. Moore Heating & Air Coditioning, Inc.
532 Seagirt
731-7900

Gas line: Neil Hamovitz
146 Hazelwood Ave. 421-0129

Bad guys: Dice and Comer.

I've been very pleased with Tom Stock (856-1077) -- fast response,
very good work, reasonable prices, and seems to do that little bit
extra that he doesn't *have* to do, but makes customers happy.
(For example, when I had a sewage backup in my basement, he scrubbed
the whole floor with bleach when he had cleared the pipe.)

And an anti-recommendation: I once called M. Stahl for a problem and
they were late, rude (I found one of them *smoking* in my house; he
hadn't asked), and tried to tell me I had a $3500 problem (that they'd
be happy to fix for me). Tom Stock fixed it for under $100; it's
been about a year and there's been no recurrence.

Good luck!

We just had some major work done to our basement by M. Stahl plumbing, and we
were happy with their work. They started work the day after we called (we
called on Sunday; I suppose they might have been able to come the same day if
it had been during the week), which was fairly important since the problem
involved sewage backing up and flooding the basement! They were very
professional at all times: they showed up when they said they would, they
kept things clean (as much as possible) and cleaned up after they were done,
they organized things to minimize the inconvenience to us, and (as far as we
can tell) the actual plumbing was all properly installed. The only problem we
had was that there was some confusion about what the charge should be. It's
not that the charge was unreasonable; we just couldn't figure out how they had
come up with the number they gave us. To their credit, they didn't pressure
us for the final payment, and we were able to straighten things out pretty
much, at least to the point where we think we understand why we're paying what
we are. They also agreed that one $600 item was an error; it should actualy
have been $30, so they just said to forget it completely.

Oh, and they also finished the work in four and a half days when they thought
it was going to take a week and a half, so we were happy about that. Anyway,
we would certainly use them again.
