First, I need some structural work done, ie the sill plate needs to be replaced, and would possibly involve jacking up parts of the structure. Next, (and possibly by the same guy) I would like to remodel the upstairs into an apartrment. He's done some stuff for us (not finish work) that was good, and I've seen some of the interiors (kitchens, floors) he's done and been impressed. So far I am very pleased with the quality and timeliness of the work. I know he has done some work with jacking up structures to do foundation work, although I don't know the exact details. He also does tons of remodeling work. He recently completed work on a house he bought in McKees Rocks, converting it into two units, with all new mechanics, drywall, flooring, kitchens, baths, windows, siding, you name it. The house was a total wreck when he bought it and it is amazing what he has transformed it into. He did some general contracting for us, getting others to do the plastering/painting and doing the carpentry himself. His work is solid. I know others have had him remodel bathrooms, rebuild decks, and do general remodeling and I haven't heard a bad word. He seems a bit spaced out, but he isn't. He'll be honest with you about what is reasonable. His favorite remark, in response to questions like "Is X possible", was "How much do you want to spend?". Like all contractors, he's always looking for winter work. ========================================= From: David Anderson To: Craig Marcus We had our home massively remodeled this summer, and hired Liz Nordquist, 441-2618, as the general contractor. We were impressed with most of the sub-contractors she hired, things turned out well, and we're still on speaking terms with Liz :-). He does remodeling and maintenance (and has done work for some folks at CMU and the SEI). He sent a guy to fix the foundation on a rental house that I own, and I would recommend him even if I weren't married to Tony.
