I posted this query:

   I'll be paying my last month's rent at an apartment managed by Sachs
   Management Co. within a few days.  Does anyone have good or bad
   experiences to report when they tried to get their security deposit
   back from them?
   
   I'll anonymize any responses and forward them to Bovik, unless the
   response says to do otherwise.

and I got this response:

   You asked about experiences ... mine was good.  I rented (twice) an
   apartment from Sachs on behalf of an overseas friend who was spending
   several months in Pgh.  As I recall on both occasions they returned the full
   deposit by spontaneously mailing me a check after my friend checked out.  In
   the absence of any contrary evidence, I think you can conclude that if you
   leave the apartment in reasonable shape they will also mail you a check.
   Hard to believe, I know, but it was my experience.
