I'd already realised that the one rule is to avoid Allstate at Allcosts, but if you haven't.. I currently have mine through Allstate, am extremely disattisfied, and am in the process of changing over to State Farm for a number of reasons. 1) State Farm has replacement value coverage. Allstate does not. $15k with a $150 deductable will cost me $116 through State Farm. With Allstate, the coverage is for current value, there is a $250 theft deductable/$100 all-peril, and the saving is only about $10/year. 2) Allstate added a $250 theft deductable to my policy which was not noted on the purchase agreement I signed. I intend to write the state board which regulates insurance about this, and I intend to ask Allstate for my entire premium back. 3) An employee of Allstate entered my apartment while I was not home. Although this was as much the fault of the maintanance person who let him in, it doesn't make me any fonder of Allstate.
