I called places for auto insurance quotes in May of 1988.
My specs: 25, single, clean record, ~8k miles/yr, live in Shadyside,
	have off-street parking
Policy: Liability: Personal: 50/100 K, Property 50K
	Basic 1st Party
	Unins. motorist: 50/100K
Car Damage: Collision 250 deductable, other 100 deductible
vehicle is a 1985 Toyota pick-up truck

I kept my Wisconsin coverage (and liscense and plates) for over two
years. It cost $269. (All premiums are for 6 months.)

These are the quotes I got: (agents given where remembered)

State Farm (Weidner)	$306	487-5160, Allison Park
Erie (Starrett) $423	371-7050
State Farm (Robinson)	$534	682-7383, Oakland
AAA $572	362-0200
Allstate (Kelly)	$573
Nationwide $584
Dileo $655	856-9114
Simon Ins. $732	266-3320, Ambridge
Amica didn't call back and said they weren't soliciting new policies

Starrett recommended a national company as I expect to move in a
few years and, should I have an accident, transferring a policy is
much easier (cheaper) than trying to find a new one.

I went with Weidner, holding my breath because it sounded to good
to be true. It turned out to be for real but $30 more.
