Theft of items from a car is NOT covered by my car insurance, and probably not covered under yours. Fortunately, I also have renter's insurance, which does cover such thefts. (Items left in a car are only covered by the auto policy if the entire car is stolen. CB's, etc. are a special case. I'm not sure about theft of car parts (wheels, tires, batteries, etc.) but I am sure that tools are not covered.) 2. My claim was for $226, minus $100 deductible. The adjuster was very appreciative of my complete itemized list. He OK'd the claim in spite of the fact that the evidence of tampering (my trunk lock had been jimmied) was slight, and too inconspicuous to appear on photographs. My valuations were accepted without question, in spite of the fact that I could only furnish some of the necessary receipts (I was claiming full value on a number of items, since they were only a few months old). 3. My claim was delayed by the New York City (and apparently NY State) bureaucracy. The insurance company won't pay the claim until they get a copy of the police report, and a call to NY revealed that they take about 4-5 weeks to fill requests from insurance companies. Once NY came through, I got my check immediately. I was totally satisfied with the service I received from the insurance company (but I reserve the right to change my opinion when it comes time to renew my policies). Gary
