	Hi.  My father is an agent (don't worry, he's not licensed in PA),
and his main advice is that if a company is really pushing a policy (TV ads,
etc.), it's probably a bad deal, since they make lots of money off of it.
Some types of policies that everyone carries, like whole life insurance,
are very good, but not widely advertized.  (Whole life builds up a cash value,
whereas term insurance doesn't.)  The other specific advice I recall is to
avoid companies licensed in Texas, since they have very loose laws (this
may have changed).  His company is New York Life, and has enough assets to
cover 25% of everyone dying (they figure if more than that die at once, the
money probably won't be worth anything anyway).
