I don't know if there is an oriental art store in Pittsburgh, but there is
an oriental art stor e that does mail order in Chicago. THe name of the place
is Aiko's Art Material Import and you could get the phone number from directory
assistance ( Ibelieve the store is on Wabash). At
any rate they have beautiful rice papers and all sorts of japanese
art things.

Hi Ramesh,
There is a Pier Import store in Monroeville (if you need to know exactly
where, stop by my office) that sells a lot of oriental stuff. I am quite
sure I saw rice paper but I don't know about bamboo. You certainly can
check them. There is also an Oriental Import store in Wilkinsburgh (again
I can tell you where) but I never went in.
Hope I helped.

Any art store carries rice paper and/or parchment (there is a difference).
I know the CMU art store carries parchment as well as three or four different
types of rice paper. Cappy's downtown should have it as well but since CMU
uses Cappy's as a supplier, they're both about the same price.

I believe it comes in 36x24 or something like that; CMU carries it because
it's very popular for silk screening, wood cuts, and various other print
making techniques.

I suggest you check them out before you start driving all over creation.

Try Pier 1 imports (in various places around the city) or Cargo
Unlimited (?) in a North Hills Mall right beside KUHN's grocery store.

Bamboo: I think your best bet would be Pier 1 Imports (a chain with
many stores around the country, even here). They might have the
paper too.

Rice paper can be bought at many art supply stores in rolls suitable
for brush and ink work. Depending on what you are doing though, this
paper is not very strong. Start by trying CMU's art store in Skibo.
They often have had rolls of this. Else, try A&B Smith halfway to
Monroeville, or Cappy's downtown. Gregg
