    Parkvale Savings has the same kind of services deal that Horizon did
    before it went mainstream.  In particular:

    	ATM fees:  $5 annual (... thassit)
	
	Interest checking:
	    $500 minimum balance (waived with direct deposit)
	    5% interest

    Offices in Oakland and Squirrel Hill (521-4800).

    By Oct 21 the rest of the new rules will be in effect at Horizon,
    including the dastardly $.25 per ATM withdrawal, and the $1000 minimum
    balance for interest checking, immune to direct deposit.

    When I opened my new account, I asked (naively, I suppose) if a buyout
    was in the offing.  The manager said that they were expanding, having
    bought two other banks.  For what that's worth.

    That demmed elusive S&L...
