For those interested, here is a summary of the responses to my request
for recommendations for a shirt laundry and dry cleaner:

The most frequently recommended place was Northumberland Cleaners in
Sq. Hill (on Northumberland near Shady). They apparently are a little
slower and a little more expensive than the chains, but are worth it.

Footers in Sq. Hill also was recommended a few times (I imagine any
Footers would do, they send the cleaning to a central plant I
believe.)

I've been using Checkers in Shadyside. The problem I've been having
is that they break buttons on my good shirts (and finding matching
buttons is impossible.) Also, I don't think their dry cleaning is the
best.

One person recommended the cleaners in the CMU laundry room on
Margaret Morrison St.

I'm going to try Northumberland Cleaners next week.
