Yes, State Stores do carry it, though they don't have a huge selection.
I bought a japanese friend of mine a bottle for his birthday a few weeks
ago. I don't know anything about it, so I don't even know if what I got
was considered "good", though he said it was decent. It cost about $8 for
a bottle the size of about a fifth.

I'm sure you can get the ceramic cups and "heater" at Pier One imports. I
think there is one in Shadyside, and I know there is one in Monroeville.
By the way, I bought the sake at the State store on Murray Ave, right
across the street from Giant Eagle.

Good luck.

I think most liquor stores have sake. I can't tell you anything
about sake brands, but you can get the bottles and cups from
Pier 1 Imports (for cheap sets), or Basic Concepts in Shadyside
(I saw a fancy set there). Some gift-box sake comes with these
sets, but I doubt if you'll find any in Pittsburgh.

According to Pennsylvania's Official Wine & Liquor Quarterly (which
you can pick up at any liquor store), there are five brands of sake
which any given state store can carry. They are:

Fu-Ki Sake
Gekkeikan Sake
Ichidai Sake
Kiku Masamune Sake
Shirayuki Sake

I can't say if any of these are good or bad, sorry. However, if your
local liquor store doesn't have any of these brands, they are usually
quite happy to order it for you.

All the liqor stores carry sake. The normal ones carry fuki brand wich
is real iky swill. The specialtie shops carry large bottles of two
different brands from Japan gekekan (sp?) and I forget the other one.
The store next to the shady side giant egal usually has stock. Between
these two real brands it is a matter of taste. They are both quite good.

Orental food shops tend to have sake sets. Try the place in squrrel hill
next to pinkus.

Put the sake in the microwave with a temprature probe for best results.
(assuming your flask is microwave safe). A double boiler also works.

I saw sake in the liquor store on Murray avenue across Giant Eagle in
Squirel Hill. I think other relatively big liquor stores carry it, too.
However, you cant select a brand, since they carry only one or two
brands.
I guess you can find the bottle ("tokkuri" in Japanese) and the cups
("ochoko" in Japanese) at Asian Merchandise on Penn ave. in Wilkinsburg.

The liquor stores DO carry sake. I usually get Shirayuki (sp?),
that's the kind they serve at the Kiku. It comes in a huge bottle that
looks like a wiffle ball bat.

They have the ceramic bottles & cups at Pier 1.

John,
You might already have a solution to your Sake, but just in case, you can
find Sake in most of general liquor store. They usually carry only 2 or 3
different brands, which leaves you with not much choice. "Hakutsuru" is
okay. You might be able to find ceremic sake bottles in a oriental grocery
store in the strip district (can't remember the name now). To be honest with
you, Pittsburgh is not the greatest place to find a fine Sake. I usually
pick some bottles when I go to place like New York.

Yes, they have sake. There's only two or three brands usually, so I
don't think you can do too bad (ie, enumerate all possibilities).

Paraphenalia can be found at many oriental groceries, probably.
Pgh Asian Center, in Wilkinsburg, on Penn ave is a retail outlet as
well as major supplier for most oriental restaurants in town.
