From: Edward Czeck@setter ece cmu edu
I am in need of a tailor to do some alterations on a mens
jacket. Bovik seems to do his own tailoring, but I would like
to use a professionsal. Can anyone recommend a tailor in the
Pittsburgh area?

Thanks

Try Ianni's(sp?) on Forward, across from the Squirrel Hill Theatre.

I have had good success getting clothes tailored at London Dock
on Forbes in Squirrel Hill. So far it has only been on new
clothes -- I don't know if they take in other work, but it
might be worth a try.

Ed--
I'm very picky about how clothing is altered. I'd heartily recommend
Drucker's on Murry Ave. (Drucker's is halfway down the hill. It's
almost at the end of the block and on the same side as the block
that has the gas station {Boron I think? And not the one at the
bottom of the hill, Forward and Murray})

The quality Drucker's alterations is excellent and the people there
are quite personable.

I highly recommend Albert Drucker in Squirrel Hill (across from
Napoli Pizza). My boyfriend's mother owns a pricey women's shop
and she goes to him for all her alterations. Top quality. I've
never been disappointned.

I use the tailor in the Footer's cleaners on Forbes between Murray and
Shady. If you speak Russian or Yiddish it helps, but the tailor quite
adequately understands standard English for things like "take it in" or
"let it out". That, and he does nice work.

Ed,

I am happy with Mary Langol 683-3375 at 5510 Centre Ave (across from
the funeral home near the Food Gallery). She has completed several pants
alterations for me. I have been favorably impressed with little tidbits of
advice she has given me about what to look for in clothing. I noticed that
she does a thriving business in suit alterations.

H. Drucker, on Murray in SqHill. He's always done excellent work for us.
They have signs in their shop saying "No Checks," but sometimes they'll take a
check.

The two places I like best are:

1. "Mend it" on South Craig street, right next to Cafe Azure. I'm not
sure if they do men's jacket, but they do excellent jobs on a lot of my
clothes.

2. "Ianii's" on Forward ave (across the street from squirrel hill theator)
does quite a good job. The only disadvantage is that their store is
quite smoky.

I've had good results with Vincent's tailoring in Shadyside.

I ended up going to Langol's on Center Ave. It cost $20.00
for pants waist taken in, legs cuffed, sleeves shortened, and
jacket waist taken in. I am pleased with their work.
