Subject: Electronics stores

[Harry: if there's already a listing for this type of information, I
	 couldn't find it.]
[Useful extraneous tidbit: you can run TTL directly from 4 AA NiCads.]

There are no electronics outlets in the area.

"Tech Electronics" shop in Hamerschlag Hall (the ECE building) near the
elevator on the main floor, has a good supply of parts, but you
have to know what you want before you go.

The Physics Stockroom has a very good selection of basics.

Radio Shack is limited to 4 TTL chips, but they can order.
I have found that the best Rodeo Shark store is in the Monroeville
Mall. that particular one seems to stock everything in the catalog
all the time (this, of course only helps if you are in need of a
device that they even list in their catalogs...).

I usually mail order from DigiKey for my digital electonics parts.
They have a good catalog and good prices.
I got parts recently via mail order from DigiKey. They may have a
minimum order amount or something, though.

MCM electronics has about the best prices and
quality, also. MCM is in Ohio (800-843-4330 and ask for catalog) and
have about the best listings of both US and Japanese ttl.

There's a half decent electronics store that i got some difficult to
get transistors. Its been so long that i forget its name. from squirrel
hill, drive up Negley. Turn right on Baum (near car dealership), and
its on the right hand side about 1/2 mile up the road - grotty looking
place maybe with white paint? They also keep wierd hours - either
closing real early, or opening late...

[The name is "Electronic Parts." It is, indeed, somewhat odd. Rather
a junk shop that handles repair parts and old Sams manuals. A useful
place to check out, though. --bob]

There's Leff Electronics in Braddock, which is certainly better than
Rat Shack, but hardly what I'd consider "good." Cash only, I believe.
