After spending much time putting together a European vacation this summer,
I thought that I'd summarize the places I called for information as
well as the quality of service I received.

- Flight Arrangements

  AESU (800) 638-7640
  Council (412) 683-1881

Both agencies offered reasonable rates for air fares (which were
much better than anything I could get directly from the airlines
or from a non-student travel agency).

- Car Rental

  Budget (800) 472-3325
  AutoEurope (800) 223-5555
  Dollar (800) 800-6000
  Avis (800) 331-1212
  Hertz (800) 654-3131

The rates quoted by all the above car rental agencies were reasonable
and close to one another. However, I got the best deal from Hertz
(which was better than deals offered by travel agencies). Also, AESU
will not make car rental arrangements.

- Hotel Reservations

  AESU (800) 638-7640
  Council (412) 683-1881

The woman I talked to at AESU was friendly enough, however I had a lot
of trouble getting in contact with her and my messages often went
unanswered. I had much better service from Council travel on this
aspect of my arrangements. Furthermore, Council offered better deals
  than AESU for hotels.
