For your information:

For cheap airline tickets, I recommend the student/teacher rates from
Council Travel: 683-1881, Meyran Ave., Oakland. They are cheap and
have few restrictions, they will make a reservation and hold it until
you pay, and (unlike Forum Travel which also offers student tickets)
they take credit cards.

These rates are available to students and faculty. Students need to
show a student ID for the current semester (in practice, I know of at
least one case where the validation sticker was a year old). Faculty
members need to show "a letter from the head of the department saying
that they are faculty for the current semester".

The traveller needs to buy an international student/teacher ID for
$15. Bring a picture, issued on the spot.

Spouses can travel for the same cheap rate, if they are using the
exact same itinerary.

What you seem to get is an extremely low fare for the route, with the
flexibility of a REGULAR price ticket. That means no advance purchase
requirement (I booked one of these weeks in advance but paid for it
only on the day that I travelled), no stayover requirements, stopover
OK, rebooking OK.
