Researchers and Their International Colleagues Unveil New Tools for Multi-Cultural Communication at Forum 2004 in Barcelona. “This gathering is a milestone in our dream to make computers bring people closer to each other,” said Alex Waibel, Professor CSD, who heads the International Center for Advanced Communication Technologies, (InterACT) a joint venture of Carnegie Mellon and the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. Interactive Social Robots to Participate In AAAI’s Annual Mobile Robot Challenge! Grace and George, a pair of socially skilled robots developed by a team of researchers from Carnegie Mellon University, the Naval Research Laboratory and Swarthmore College, will participate in the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) annual Mobile Robot Competition and Exhibition July 27-29, at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, Calif.
