Matt Mason, Professor, Computer Science and Robotics, will become the new Director of the Robotics Institute (RI) on July 1. Mason has been with RI since 1982 and is known throughout the world for his research on robotic manipulation. He will be replacing Chuck Thorpe, who has recently accepted the position of Dean of the Qatar Campus of Carnegie Mellon. Press Release

Pradeep K. Khosla, the Philip and Marsha Dowd Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Robotics, has been appointed dean of the College of Engineering, effective July 1. He replaces John Anderson, who left in April to become provost at Case Western University. Press Release

Dean Bryant announces new recipients of three term chairs in SCS. James D. Herbsleb, Associate Professor ISRI, received the A. Nico Habermann Chair; Srinivasan Seshan, Associate Professor CSD, was awarded the school's Finmeccanica Chair; and Yoky Matsuoka, Assistant Professor RI, received the Anna McCandless Junior Faculty Chair.
