Takeo Kanade, U. A. and Helen Whitaker University Professor CSD, has been elected Fellow of the the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), a society of the world's leading scientists, scholars, artists, business people, and public leaders. Other AAAS fellows from SCS

Brad Myers, Associate Research Professor HCII, elected to the CHI Academy, as one of the top 25 "principal leaders of the field" of HCI in the world. More information Other HCII members of the CHI Academy include Sara Kiesler and Bob Kraut.

Congratulations!! to Dave O'Hallaron, Associate Professor CSD and ECE, winner of this year's SCS Herbert Simon Award which acknowledges excellence and dedication to teaching by a faculty member in the School of Computer Science.

Richard Tapia, Professor of Computational and Applied Mathematics at Rice University, will be awarded an honorary degree at Commencement 2004. Dr. Tapia was nominated by Women@SCS for his outstanding contributions in promoting ethnic and gender diversity in computer science, mathematics, and engineering.
