President Cohen and Dean Bryant led the SCS Community in a celebration honoring Jeannette Wing as the new President’s Professor of Computer Science. Wing, Computer Science Department Head, was awarded this prestigious chair for her outstanding contributions in research, teaching and administrative service. News release

Robotics and Thought is the theme for celebrating the 25th anniversary of our world-famous Robotics Institute. Celebrations will include an exciting, thought-provoking, robotics extravaganza that will take place October 11-14, 2004. The four-day event will include something for the research, educational and business communities, as well as for all the people who find robots a continuing source of fascination and entertainment. Congratulations and good luck to Kumar Dwarakanath and Oleg M. Sheyner!! nominees for this year's ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award. ACM nominees will compete against other nominees from universities throughout the US. Oleg Sheyner's thesis was also chosen to receive the SCS Doctoral Dissertation Award.
