Carnegie Mellon Celebrates 50 Years of Computer Science Excellence!

EMC2 Workshop on Hardware and Software Verification Please join us in celebrating and honoring our colleague, teacher, advisor and friend, Edmund M. Clarke, Jr. on the occasion of his 60th birthday. A one-day workshop, April 22nd, will provide focus on his career-long fascination with, and multiple contributions to, model checking and automatic verification of computer hardware and software. The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences has selected John R. Anderson, the Richard King Mellon Professor of Psychology and Computer Science, as the recipient of the inaugural Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Cognitive Science. News release

MillerFest Workshop is a workshop to honor and celebrate the career of Gary Miller, Professor of Computer Science, on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The workshop will highlight research areas in which Professor Miller has played a leading role: computational number theory, randomized algorithms, parallel algorithms, and scientific computing. The Google Research Awards program recently granted $50,000 to fund a NEW 2006 Summer Workshop for CS High School Teachers: CS4HS -- Explorations in Computer Science, Friday, July 21 - Monday, July 24. The workshop will provide teaching modules showing that computer science is a broad and varied field. Online Registration now available!
