Carnegie Mellon’s Soccer-Playing Robot Teams
Bring Home Gold and Bronze from RoboCup
2007! Two Other University Teams Participate
in Nanogram Demonstration League. Three teams representing Carnegie
Mellon University have taken top spots at the International RoboCup
Federation’s 2007 RoboCup competition in Atlanta. The CM Dragons
2007 took first place among the competitors in the small-sized league
for the second year in a row. CM Dash captured the third spot in
the legged league, while another Carnegie Mellon team vying in the
robot rescue simulation league took first place as well. News

Carnegie Mellon is hosting three high school students from the Al
RU’YA Bilingual School in Kuwait who took the top spot at
Carnegie Mellon in Qatar’s first international Botball®
competition. The students won a trip to Pittsburgh as the grand
prize after beating 17 other teams from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates
and Kuwait in May. News

a summer enrichment program for local area high school students
run by the School of Computer Science. June 25 -- Aug 10
David O’Hallaron, associate professor of computer science
and electrical and computer engineering is the new director of Intel
Research Pittsburgh. O’Hallaron, whose research focuses on
scientific supercomputing, computational database systems and virtualization,
succeeds Todd Mowry,
who has returned to the university as an associate professor, CSD.
