Registration for ACM@CMU's annual Algorithms with a Purpose competition is now open at www.awap2018.com.
AWAP is an algorithms competition for teams of up to 4 people. But don't worry if you do not have a full team as there will be a team matching event closer to the competition.
Unlike usual programming competitions, AWAP does not have a "correct" solution. Instead, you are rewarded for having creative approaches and clever heuristics.
In the past, competitors have developed algorithms to play Blokus, designed schedulers to deliver Tubers across San Franhattan, and even programmed swarms of bots to collect minerals in a Starcraft-like universe.
AWAP is a beginner-friendly competition and does not require any knowledge of complex algorithms; all you need is basic Python experience.
Applications close on February 17, so please sign up as soon as possible.
There will be food and prizes at the event, along with various small goodies.
